Size Guide: Find Your Perfect DR+HARNESS Fit

Size Guide: Find Your Perfect DR+HARNESS Fit

Choosing the right size should feel simple.

Whether you're deciding between two sizes, trying to understand an unusual bust-to-underbust ratio, or choosing a piece as a gift without knowing all of her measurements, we're here to help.

DR+HARNESS pieces are made to order and designed with adjustability in mind. Many of our leather designs feature adjustable straps, buckles, and multiple fastening positions, giving you flexibility once the piece is on the body. But accurate measurements are still the best starting point—especially when choosing structured leather pieces.

If you're between sizes or your measurements don't fit neatly into our standard chart, don't guess. Contact our support team at care@drharness.com and we'll help you choose the right fit.

How to Choose Your Size

Start with four basic measurements:

  • Bust
  • Underbust
  • Waist
  • Hips

Depending on the design, you may also need your thigh measurement or other additional measurements.

The most important thing is to measure your body as it is — not according to the size you usually wear in another brand.

A size S in one lingerie brand may not fit like a size S in another. This is especially important with leather, where the construction of the garment matters just as much as the measurement itself.

How to Measure Yourself

All you need is a soft measuring tape and a few minutes.

Measure directly against your skin or over very thin underwear. Keep the tape level around your body and snug, but not tight. Stand naturally, keep your shoulders relaxed, and breathe normally.

For the most reliable result, take each measurement twice.

  1. Bust — Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it horizontal all the way around your body. Do not pull the tape tightly or compress the bust. Tip: Keep your arms relaxed at your sides while measuring.
  2. Underbust — Place the measuring tape directly under your bust, following the line where a bra band or the underbust section of a garment would sit. The tape should feel secure against your body without digging in.
  3. Waist — Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist. Keep the tape horizontal and don't pull your stomach in. Your natural waist may sit higher than the waistband of your everyday trousers or jeans.
  4. Hips — Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks. Keep both feet together and make sure the tape remains level around your body.
  5. Thighs — For designs that require a thigh measurement, wrap the tape around your thigh approximately 5 cm / 2 inches below the crotch. Keep the tape comfortably snug without pulling it into the skin.

Why Accurate Measurements Matter More With Leather

Not all lingerie behaves the same way.

Soft lingerie made with elastic fabrics has a certain amount of natural stretch. If you're slightly between two measurements, the fabric can often accommodate small differences in your body.

Leather is different.

A structured leather piece is designed around the shape of the body. It does not stretch in the same way as elastic lingerie, which is why getting the basic measurements right matters more.

At the same time, leather does not mean rigid or unforgiving. Many DR+HARNESS designs are built with adjustable straps, buckles, and multiple fastening positions, allowing you to fine-tune the fit once the piece is on your body. Our pieces are also handmade to order, which allows us to pay close attention to construction and fit.

Think of your measurements as the starting point. The adjustment system is what helps you fine-tune the final fit.

Lingerie vs. Leather: Why the Fit Can Feel Different

A traditional lingerie set and a handcrafted leather piece may have completely different construction even when they have similar measurements.

Elastic lingerie

Elastic lingerie is generally more forgiving because the fabric can stretch and move with the body. For example, DR+HARNESS lingerie pieces such as the DAWN use a polyamide/elastane blend and are designed for a softer, more flexible fit.

Leather pieces

Leather designs rely more heavily on the relationship between the pattern, the body's measurements, and the adjustment system. A leather corset, bra, garter set, or body harness may have several points of adjustment, but the underlying size still matters. That is why we recommend taking your measurements before choosing a leather piece even if you already know your usual lingerie size.

See the Fit on Real Bodies

Measurements are useful. But sometimes the easiest way to understand a size is simply to see how the piece sits on a real body. Below are examples of DR+HARNESS sets worn by our models. Use them as a visual reference — not as a replacement for your own measurements.

Model Anna — Size S

Measurements:

  • Bust: 86 cm
  • Underbust: 75 cm
  • Waist: 61 cm
  • Hips: 93 cm

Anna wears size S. Her measurements fall within the current S range for our general Lingerie & Leather sizing, making her a useful reference for seeing how a size S can sit across the bust, waist, and hips.

Model Yulia — Size M

Measurements:

  • Bust: 90 cm
  • Underbust: 74 cm
  • Waist: 65 cm
  • Hips: 98 cm

Yulia wears size M. Her measurements demonstrate something important: choosing a size is not always about the bust alone. Her hips fall into the M range, while her bust and underbust sit close to the S/M boundary. This is exactly the kind of proportion where looking at the complete measurement profile is more useful than relying on a single number.

Frequently Asked Questions

What If You're Between Two Sizes?

This is one of the most common questions we receive. And there isn't always one universal answer.

Your measurements may fall into different size ranges — for example, your bust may correspond to one size while your hips correspond to another. This is completely normal. It's especially common for women with:

  • a fuller bust and smaller ribcage;
  • a smaller waist and fuller hips;
  • a longer or shorter torso;
  • measurements that sit exactly between two standard sizes.

Don't choose a size based on just one measurement. Look at the complete set of measurements and consider which part of the garment needs the most precise fit.

And if you're still unsure, contact us before ordering. Send us your Bust / Underbust / Waist / Hips — or just your photo — and tell us which product you're considering. Our team at care@drharness.com can help you determine the most appropriate size for that particular design.

What If My Bust and Underbust Don't Match the Same Size?

This is especially important when choosing a bra or structured leather piece.

For example, you may have a smaller underbust with a fuller bust, or a larger underbust with a smaller bust. This is completely normal.

Traditional bra sizing takes both measurements into account because the band and cup perform different functions. DR+HARNESS also provides a separate Lingerie Bra sizing system for designs that use traditional cup sizing, rather than relying only on XS-XL.

For leather bras and chest harnesses, our sizing is based on bust and underbust measurements, with additional adjustment built into the design.

If your measurements don't fit neatly into the chart, please include your measurements in the order comments, and we will create a custom item for you — this does not affect the price.

Buying Lingerie as a Gift?

This is where sizing can become complicated.

You may know her style, know exactly which piece she'd love. But asking "By the way, what's your underbust measurement?" is probably not the most romantic way to keep a surprise.

If you genuinely don't know her measurements, don't guess — especially when buying a structured leather piece. Instead, consider a DR+HARNESS Gift Card.

She can choose the piece, size, and style herself, while you still get to give her the experience of choosing something from the collection. The current Gift Card can be sent directly to her email, has no expiry, and you can choose any amount.

But if you've already picked out a specific set for her and want to gift that signature black DR+HARNESS box, just send care@drharness.com a photo of the recipient, and we'll help you with the size!
